In men it acts as a partial anti-estrogen and can be used to combat some of the effects of aromatizable steroid use, including gynecomastia and water retention. As an anti-estrogenic drug, it can also produce an increase in follicle stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone levels which can increase testosterone production.
